President's Message
Rotary is a volunteer service organization. It is nonreligious, nongovernmental and open to every race, culture, and creed. We encourage high ethical standards for business and our personal lives and carries out local and international humanitarian projects to address such issues as poverty, health, hunger, education, and the environment.
Our East Honolulu club is one of 45 in the state of Hawaii. We have been focusing our community efforts in Kaimuki and Kahala and work with Palolo Elementary School, Jarrett Intermediate, Kalani High School, and Chaminade University. Internationally, we have been involved with the campaign to eliminate polio worldwide, we have provided safe water projects to the Philippines and Thailand, and have sponsored an ambassadorial scholar from Japan.
If you live or work in the Kaimuki and Kahala communities and are interested in helping to improve the quality of life in those communities we would love to have you be a part of our organization. You might even have a particular project we could help support. We have a lot going on, but for the right project we can redirect or find new resources.
We meet weekly at the Waialae Country Club for fun and fellowship. At each meeting we have a speaker of interest. You can begin eating at 11:30. The meeting will start at 12:10 and will be over at 1:00pm or earlier. You have my word!
If you have a passion for serving your community, come give us a try. Your first lunch is on me.
Aloha,
Al Takata
